COMMENTARY

Introducing Myself

Since I was a child, I felt attracted myself by handcarving wood, working on easy and simple- hearted ideas, who gave me not also the ability to manage with primary cutting edge tools, but also with the visual acknowledgement of different types of trees and at the same time, in which way they could be connected, as best as possible, to my early proposals or designs.

It wasn’t till the eigthies when I really began my formation as an autodidactic plastic artist, when after learning, in a practical way, with different workshop-masters, I joined to the atelier of the famous sculptor and eminent teacher of Fine Arts, Angel Marzorati. It happened in 1987. He helped me in several ways, not only in order to become a good sculptor , but essentially an honest man, artistically speaking.

Nearly all of my works are figuratives, the first ones classic torsoes and heads, then my intense passion for my beloved Buenos Aires City, guided me to work on typical characters and symbols of the City running from the twenties to the fifties decades, crowning my devotion in a large serial of sculptures inspired by the Tango, as a real and important cultural fact of this City, and its main musical instrument: the bandoneón, completely identified to this sensual rythm. Of course, these works should be watch under the scrutinized glaze of a personal and nostalgic way of life.

At present time, I am still working and researching on similar areas of my interest.
